Hey guys.....just picked up this 07 LT....65K mileage and in really good shape. I was thinking on doing some mods shortly and was looking for some suggestions. I have a few in mind but wanted your guys "experienced opinion". I appreciate your input...Thanks.

Any Questions? This truck belongs to Hardtrailz

Nice interior trim. Did you install the wood grain or did you buy it like that? Whats the ETA on the grille inserts?

You already have my opinions

Welcome to the Nation! :tiphat:

Depends what kind of mods you're wanting..visual, performance, etc. One that a lot of people do is the resonator delete (the trashcan/muffler-looking thing at the tailpipe) and it cleans the looks up a little bit and might change the sound a little. Another would be changing bulbs to LEDs, adding LED accents and such. A performance mod would be a PCMofNC tune or a lift if you like off-roading. The possibilities are endless, my friend.

What mods do you have in mind?

Start off with simple mods first, then delve into the more intricate & time consuming ones

color match the headlights... or black out the grill and lights maybe.

take the chrome stuff off of the tail lights for sure.

after that, it depends which way you want to go with it

I agree with removing the chrome on the tail lights, that looks so tacky!

Hey guys, Thanks for your suggestions.....my comments:

Blazing Trails / Hypnotoad.....been there and done that 40 years ago :) Twice a month, use to grab my chain saw, oiled my winch and headed toward the mountains to find any logging road I could get lost on....

Dave....The trim came with the Blaze....at first I had my doubts about the looks but now it has kind of grown on me:) I got all the inserts this past week so I should have them on this week....will post pics.

Mounce.....res delete and PMC / NC is definitely happening.....looking at also doing grille inserts and CAI. I am sure I will get more ideas.

JimmyJam / Capote....seriously....tail lights chrome.....hmmmm....need to think about that.

I am truly surprised that no one suggested removing the roof rack or side door guards....I always see them on the top of people's list :)

Thanks again for the ideas.....will update with pics as we progress.

Usually 4x4 Need a roof rack, and I think they look better with them. If I had a 4x4 it would have something like this bad boy right here!

Bad A** Roof Rack :)

And 4 of these!!

Yes I agree with the 4x4 rack but this LT is NOT going 4 wheeling anytime soon :) But I do notice that quite a few members prefer the rack and side door moldings removed as far as mods are concerned. I see you "spruced" your ride up......nicely!!!

So did you go to the Nascar race Sunday night? I see you are a Kenseth fan......I am true Chevy Hendrick's fan....like Gordon, Jr. and JJ.....hate Kane......momma's boy!

Enjoy.....later

Go all out the first time or you will end up paying for mods twice.

If your side mouldings were grey I'd say yank them, but color matched doesn't look bad at all.

Color matched side molding is a great way to cover the holes on the roof after you remove the roof rack :twocents:

I wish mine had color matched side molding. Mine originally had black. I'm super paranoid about door dings. I freak out if anybody parks next to me lol
I really like the color matched moldings that are plain. Mine are color matched but, have Trailblazer written through them at the ends.

Frank, I would recommend the res delete to start off. If you see my thread about it, I was on the fence. Now I absolutely love the sound. :twocents:

Okay.....so as far as the side moldings, they are not coming off since I live in an area where there is a high instance of side impacts

The roof rack is staying on cause I would have no where to put my blow up dolls when we travel :lipsrsealed:

The res is being deleted after I finish my front grille mod which is currently in the process of being completed.....pics to come soon.

The PCM tune is forthcoming.....just gotta figure out a period of downtime.....maybe I will do the loaner program.

Still contemplating my "true CAI" design. I think I might have found a solution to that when I took my from grille off yesterday. I need to do some math and hypothetical fluid dynamics theory before deciding :undecided:

What else....oh yea....the chrome trim is staying on my rear break lights.....it adds a little bling to the back.

Also.....color matching the headlights sound interesting BUT. I assuming we are talking about that piece of gray plastic inside the light casing. Changing that to white might look sharp BUT I don't look forward to pulling the lens cap off. Based of what I have read, it's either the dremel method or the oven method and both ways appear to be more
work / hassle than it might be worth. With a forum full of "experienced minds", I am open for ideas.

OK.....got to go back to the grille work.......as always.......thanks!

Okay....so I just got done with this part of the grille mod. Was fairly easy to install.....look pretty decent. Tomorrow I start on the "brake duct grilles"......that might be an adventure.
Looks good

I think the brake duct grilles will complete the front end.

If you weren't going to put grilles there, you could mount tow hooks, as that's where they would pop out through the bumper. Brake duct does sound much sexier than tow hook access though.

I installed the "brake duct" inserts today.....somewhat of a PITA but it's done. Because the backing bars were being tightened against the plastic bumper, I couldn't get them super tight so I took them off and put lock washers on so hopefully they stay there. Unless on had a syringe, there was no way (that I know of) to get "loctite" on them. I will definitely check them every time I go for a spin.

So this first pic is the insert with backing bars, etc. and the second is the finished product.

Was thinking of doing the same mod minus the grill inserts, and getting the gloss black versions instead. What's next for your TB? Some LEDs perhaps? HIDs?

BTW....I must have scoured the internet for countless numbers of 07 LT pics trying to get ideas for these mods. I couldn't find jack for the "brake dusts" and knew that the "SS" cover were way to big. BUT....low and behold, I saw a vehicle (not a 07 LT) in a shopping mall that had grille inserts that were close to the size of mine. I knew what the vehicle was so I went to a local dealership with my tape measure and found the same vehicle....measured the openings....the rest is history. They were not identical but close enough that if I had to, I could do some "subtle grinding" to make them fit.....so that's the story.

Now, other than dmanns, the first contestant who identifies the vehicle/s that these inserts are made for will win a "self financed trip to Disney" and of course being recognized by his fellow GMTnation members!

I had already run my mod plans by Dave prior too for his approval and blessing

Fletch, would love to do the color match lights but as I stated previously, aren't they a PITA to do?

Capote, I plan I deleting the res next week plus getting a PCM tune. I will probably run a straight pipe with a double opening tip as a lot of guys do. I am debating the LEDs / HIDs.....just not feeling it.

I am still debating the design of my CAI so IF I do that, it will be next in line after the exhaust but before the tune.

Guys, thanks for the ideas....much appreciated.

to be honest w/ you, i did not do them myself. but heard that the LT lights are easier than the earlier (non LT)
lights.
i suggest keeping an eye out on ebay or local craigslist for 06+ LT headlights. buy up a pair when you can afford them,
then play w/ those.

All OE TB headlights are a PITA because the permaseal that is used to seal them. My depo TBLT headlights (From partsgeek.com) I purchased ($330 with shipping included) was able to be baked open since they were not permasealed. A lot of guys use a Dremel to open up the headlights if they are permasealed. Plus with a spare set of headlights, you do not have to worry about any downtime. Maybe slap some projectors in there

HIDs in the headlights is for more than just looks. You will be surprised how much more light you have on the road when compared to halogen bulbs. A basic halogen low beam bulb produces around 900-1000 lumens. A 4300K HID bulb produces around 3200 lumens. Three times more light output. If you drive much a night, you will appreciate the additional lumens produced by HIDs. Checkout http://www.theretrofitsource.com/ They have good quality HID kits and their customer service is phenomenal. The HID kit you would need for the low beams is a 9006, same number as the halogen bulb.

HIDs in the fog lights is another great lighting upgrade. The HID kit you will need is the 880, same number as the halogen bulb. You will be amazed at how much difference a HID bulb makes in our OE fog light housings.

You will like the sound of the exhaust once you remove the exhaust resonator and add a straight pipe with tip.

Forgot to mention, your grille looks awesome. Billet grille inserts in the brake ducts looks awesome

Brake ducts... I like that. Though it's not really a duct... which means, mod project! Make ducting from the small grilles up to an appropriate place to cool the brakes!

Holy mod balls batman! That'd be a fun little project!!!

But unneeded

Okay, so they are not "brake ducts" but that sounds sexier than "brake vents". And speaking of "ducts" for your brakes, why don't you guys work on a ducting project from the "brake vents" up to your HAI which will become a CAI and it can be called a CAI instead of a HAI because it will have "cold air" being inducted into your HAI system instead of "hot air" being sucked from your hot engine compartment which is why it's called a HAI. Of course, the only way that you can have a "true CAI is with a refrigeration unit but with the appropriate designed "ducting system" you can still call what you thought was your (CAI) CAI where CAI becomes a "cool air intake" which will be a tad "cooler" then the AAI (ambient air intake) of your presently designed CAI which is really a HAI which this post is becoming  .

I just like air and the engine saves me when the hood is under water. A lower or more exposed intake be bad news bears

A number of guys with TBSS remove the washer tank, and extend their intake down into the fender well to get the cooler air. Then, like Kyle said, you have to be extra mindful about water, or things can go bad real fast.

agreed. Plus you gotta cut and do other things for the fwi(fender well intake).

I would want to see some hard data showing that running at ambient temp would make that much more difference compared to running 10* above ambient temp before I start cutting holes in my engine bay.

Why dont you do what you were talking about earlier and run a hose from your "brake ducts" up to the intake filter.

Have you picked up a ELM327 and an app to run it yet on your phone/tablet? That way you can get a baseline for your stock intake setup regarding air temps and air flow. Once you start making changes to the intake, you can compare the results to your baseline.

Man......you guys are no fun. I was talking smack.....BS.....bustin balls.....having fun.....couldn't you tell? How could you follow all that CAI / HAI / AAI without saying to yourself WTF???

As for the duct I was referring to previously, I am still debating what my best option is. I plan on getting the ELM327 and doing what we discussed. Before all that, I need to think find the best route to run something to the air box. Running 3 or 4" ducting up from the brake vent isn't going work real well.....not too much room without cutting / slashing. I have some ideas but some additional "meditation" is required.
