Thermostat replaced but I have a question...

I heard TBs temp should be 195ish. After performing the thermostat replacement, my temp stays at 210ish now. No CEL but color of the light on the scantool is amber not green. Does not say any error though so I go hmmm.....Is the temp being up by few degrees should make me worry or should I change the coolant temp sensor?

Needle straight up at 210 is fine and pretty much correct.
195 is pretty much the lowest point you can be at and still be OK.

My temp on dash reads straight up (210*) when the scanner hits 195*. The dash reading then stays at 210* anywhere between 195 and 205 on the scanner. I've never been over the mid 200's so I don't know what actual temp it takes before the PCM moves it over the 210 display. Not as drastic as the oil gauge, but just Another case of the PCM (engineers) taking over a gauge to make things look stable.

I do miss the ability to see my real temp. I'd rather see it fluctuate 10-15 degrees than sit there showing a dumb 210 all the time. A reason my elm 327 is always attached to the ALDL. I pull up my phone's Torque App and watch the actual water and tranny temp when in the mountains or towing.

My 02 was closer to accurate. It sat at 1 tick below 210 for several years, which the scanner showed I was typically running around 195 - my tstat was a bit weak but was still OK for a long time until it finally started wavering this past summer. Maybe they did a bit more "smoothing" in later years.

Mine sits just like that one above and real temp is 195 on the scanguage. About 230 the needle creeps to the right.

Same with mine, it runs at 192* and gauge is on 210* always. no cel

190-220 is the accepted optimal operating range for the I6. Most of this degree range will just point at 210 on the thermostat, as it's not an analog unit it's just given a spot based on current temperature. The best way to provide accurate real-time monitoring is with a scanner via OBD-II.

They designed the gauges (oil, battery, and temp) to sit straight up when everything is working right for looks. That's what I've read a few times anyway.

mine was straight up 210* until I got a cel code for faulty t stat, then it only went to just past a 1/3 of the way. Once I had it replaced, straight up 210* and no cel!
