surco safari rack

Alright so I have had one of these before, but my question is, does anyone have this roof rack or another one? Because when installed with the channel adapters it sits up WAY to high and looks a little different, I am going to get another one of these so I can mount led bars on it since the mounts cost $300 more than the actual bars because the fabricators have not tried the mounts on a trailblazer before (stupid in my opinion). So if anyone has any suggestions to try, please let me know! Thank you in advance

I refabbed the crossbar mounts to sit straight on the roof rails. The thread is on trailvoy and ortb. Since replaced the rails with quick-strut for even more strength. Let me know if you need links to the threads.

this is the one i have with the extensions.. i welded some tabs on the front (2 in x 2 in) and drilled holes in them to mount a 1 in x 1 in square tube and then put my light's on the tube. work's awasome!!

This was my inspiration for my light bar, that and James downing thread on ortb. The stuff is strong, aluminum so it wont rust, has holes precut so little to no drilling required, and it is cheap.

Did you mount to the arched oem rack bars? I am going to add a rack eventually, just debating on which one I want. I have an idea that may use if I can find the stock for a decent price.

I was considering the idea of getting a carrier from canadian tire and using the quickstrut to hold it on my truck vs the stock arched bars. Do you have a link to your thread on ortb Roadie?

We have a lot of different things over there. All of the good offroad stuff is there.

Mounted on the factory bars.. sit's down on the rails on both the pass and driver side's. although it's not as nice as the roadies it is reliable and sturdy enough for all of my need's. I have had 100 duck decoy's and 2 ice fishing sleeds on top to pull the decoy's. never gave me any trouble. if i rember right the weight limit on the cabelas one is around 350# so that may be something you want to look into.

I still have to mod my Surco so I don't use their channel mounts, it will drop it about 1.5" I think. I will be using the stock roof rails.

I plan on picking up one of these roof baskets from Canadian tire this summer and i will most likely be using the quick strut to mount it onto the factory roof rails. along with using the quick strut to mount lights to the rails like blazinlow did.

Found the proper name. 80/20 T channel. They use it at work to build racks for some of the test birds. They easily hold over 500 lbs of stuff on them. Not cheap, but the customization is almost endless.

Im planning on doing the same, drilling it into the factory roof rails but I will have to buy the rack again and mess with it a little bit, but here in ohio we are having a never ending winter! Maybe next weekend when it is supposed to be 50

I am not drilling into the rails, I have thicker plates to bolt to but not use the Surco mounting riser. The inner mounting bolts for the rack is a match to the roof rack.

When I had the rack and the adapters I thought about just cutting off the bottom of the adapters and then using u bolts or something to mount the rack.
