Just recently purchased 2004 Trailblazer EXT for my wife, has 136,000 miles on it. Since I do all the work on our vehicles I wanted to find out what common issues to look for. I was pointed to this forum from a different forum and just wanted to say hello and great site. Thanks for all the great information, keep up the great work.

Welcome!

...check the front axle disconnect on the passenger side for play
...check throttle body for dirt on the inside of the plate, and clean as necessary

Welcome!

Differential oils should have been changed at 100k. You should change those if you don't know if it's been done. Transfer case fluid should be changed every 50k also. Those are the most important things that should be addressed first.

Plugs should also be done at 100k. New brake fluid and coolant couldn't hurt.

Welcome aboard! :tiphat:

  • Transfer case fluid change - top priority.
  • Front and rear differential fluids.
  • I second the recommendation to check for play in your front axle disconnect. I just went through the "pleasure" of rebuilding mine at 92,000 miles. :hissyfit:
  • Put in new spark plugs if not already done - AC Delco 41-103.
  • Thermostat and temp sensor - the needle should be at 210. one or more ticks left could be an issue.

Thanks for the welcome and all the information. Looks like from all the suggestions I will be checking the drivetrain fluids.
