Can somebody program my ddm?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section and feel free to move.

Ok, so its not my ddm (driver door module) but my pdm (passenger door module) I haven't had the truck for long and didn't realize water would kill the door switches so easy and that it would cost $180 for the dealer to reprogram it[emoji33] , after I would have to pay $50 for a junkyard switch

So is there anybody in nyc that can reprogram the switch if I were to buy one?

Or can I ship it to someone that can fix it since everything works except the window switch (i think the relay just died)

Also yes I checked it and the window moves fine with the ddm.

A used pdm which has already been used in another vehicle doesn't need to be programmed again. It's when you get a spanking new one that it needs to be programmed.

So if I get a junk yard one it is just a plug and play and all works? That's great[emoji1] can i get one from any year or truck?
now if only I had a easy answer to my 9mpg

Also just a idea but can't I just fill up the ddm and pdm with silicone so it won't die from water anymore? Or maybe that neverwet spray?

I think the switches were re-designed in 2005 or 2006 so be mindful of that

OK well I found one on eBay for my 05 so I will be buying thanks for the info also any thoughts on waterproofing these switches?

My question is why waterproof? Where is the water getting in from? I only ask because I've never had a problem with them with my 02.

You can get water into them by cracking the window while it is raining. Snow falling into the vehicle when you open the door. Causes corrosion and risk of a fire.

Waterproofing the DDM is what the dealerships are doing currently as part of the large DDM safety recall.

Any idea on what there using?

If yours has not had the recall done (Check it out by your VIN here) Then after you install your new DDM (PDM) You can take it in and they will do it for you if you are eligible. Easy as pie.

Isn't the recall only for 06+ years I got a 05

Aw Crap. Sorry about that, I missed that part. Hmm.

Unfortunately I have no idea what they used to 'waterproof' it, but whatever it was, it didn't work, so now they are just replacing them with different units altogether. Not sure what's different in the new modules they are using.

Its ok, well I'm going to check if I can find something that can do the job since I read some silicones are bad on PCB boards and I will try to stay away from the giant water drops from the great nyc trains lol

I wonder if the newer ddm/pdm's didn't have that light blue rubber thingy like the older ones have. That's the only thing that would help keep water from getting down into the boards in the older ones like mine.

:iagree: I made sure I kept mine in place when I did my LED swap, and recommend to all those who do that mod as well and ask me for advice (although for some odd reason, they prefer to ditch it )

I don't know why anyone would remove that rubber it saved everything except for the window switch with next to a cup of water dropped on it in the rain

Would packing it with dielectric work?

I am not sure what the dealerships are using. Possibly a silicone or epoxy. Maybe you could call and ask or maybe this is just an issue on the 06+ due a change in design or material.

Fair enough. I have vent visors and always wipe the snow from the top of the door before I get in...haven't had an issue at all.

my passenger door module did the exact same thing as this in my 05 Envoy SLT. I bought 2 separate modules off ebay that were supposedly in working condition that matched perfectly with part numbers etc. Neither did anything different than my bad one. So i don't know if used ones have to be reprogrammed or not, but just slapping a used one in there may not work as i found out

Well I already ordered another one so I guess I'll see if it works Friday. Did you check the pass. Door with the ddm?

yep the driver ddm operated the window perfectly which ruled out any other problem other than the switch. I left the windows down in heavy rain one day and this happened messed with it for a while but haven't much lately just trying to avoid taking in to the shop. Hope yours works and will give me hope for an easy fix.

Actually I should specify the drivers ddm did not operate the window while in the drivers side door, but unplugging it and switching it with the passenger ddm did work.

well i hope you can get yours fixed but the one i ordered worked perfectly also i tried the same thing with the ddm it would not bring down the pass. window while in the driver door but in the pass. door it would bring it and all other windows down (a easy fix can be to cut the pdm plastic cover to fit the switches of the ddm and use it for all windows)

one thing i noticed is the new one which came from a 04 bravada had two extra pins on the big connector idk why

there were two pins in the empty spots on the left

did you match up the part numbers with your bad switch? i matched my exact and still had issues, so either i bought 2 bad switches which i returned, that were said to have been good or I have more complicated problem.

No I didn't actually. What was wrong with your switch?

the 2 switches i bought had the exact same part number and looked 100% identical to my bad one. but plugging them in didnt solve my problem both bought switches worked the mirror and locks but not the window just like my bad one

Just wondering but did you have the key in the on position? I did the same thing and thought my switch was bad but I just didn't have the key in lol

I don't think i had the engine running, but i definitely had the key in. I suppose starting the engine could do something but almost positive i never started it after installing the new switch.

Sorry I just meant the run position not engine on, how exactly did the switch die? Also everything works with the ddm? And did you try the pdm on the driver side?

everything on drivers side works as well as every other window on its own besides the passenger. i did try the passenger on the ddm but didn't work.

Your problem sounds exactly like mines except the switches don't work which is weird. Do you still have those switches you bought? Maybe you can get another from the guy I bought mines from I got it for $25 best offer w/free shipping

I returned the first one no problem the second one i still have, did you just make sure it worked with your model, because it looked like yours had the button for heated seats which my car doesn't have so i looked for one that didn't have that.

Did you check with the seller if he has one for you? I only checked his list of vehicles it worked for just in case I had a problem and needed to return. Other than that I didn't compare model numbers, it wasn't the same year and it wasn't from a envoy it was a 04 bravada. Dose your original switch have extra pins like the one I bought? Maybe it needs those to work, idk what the pins are for but they don't seem to relate to anything since the switch is bought has the same options but maybe it was a yearly thing or just a random change like the transmission pans. What model and year do you have?

I have 2005 envoy slt, the switch ihave now is out of an isuzu but matches perfectly ibcliding part number it has the pins that match exactly with you picture, but that controls the locks i believe the smaller connection with four identical pins is what controls the window. I may check with you seller to see if he has any others.

What vehicle did the other switch you have come from maybe Isuzu is different? Idk but If you find one from my seller you should get it since he has best offer, and returns w/free shipping also what year Isuzu since I think someone said the switches changed in 06

The switch styles changed here and there, but as long as there is a button/switch for the function you need/have, it should work. All vehicles on the platform use the same class 2 data bus to communicate.

nice find! Cheaper than any i bought and accepts returns, i'll give it a try as it says its compatible and changing the plate is very simple.

I will update with the result once i have it in hand and give it a shot. 3rd time is the charm hopefully!
