Been a long time coming, anyone help out with harness identification? The bigger one next to fuse box with locking lever in it. Maybe the name and pinout. It's a 04 tb 4x4 4.2.
Went thru engine replaced all bearings and did some upgrades while I was there. Texas speed truck cam, 706 heads with port job, new oil pump, ls7 lifters, and more can't think of at the moment. Motors in and running great.
I did get the rear end as well and got that swapped out. The donor was a totaled 04 buick rainier. Wasn't aware about front sway bar. As far as suspension new shocks and lowering springs in rear 3 inches, front has new everything besides actual strut, lowering springs 1.5 inches. Wheel bearings upper and lower ball joints inner and outer tie rods. Had shorty headers but wouldn't fit of course. Even using i6 torque converter. Checked the gap on converter and didn't need to shim it. Everything is buttoned up besides crossmember. Just going to fab brackets off what's there. Tried to post first start but wouldn't let me. Got all the pins for computer swapped but still no fuel level on dash. Rpm, oil pressure, temp, battery all work but no fuel gauge. Been to ls1swap but can even find name of harness im looking into. BTW this site is the whip!
Very dirty but not worried about cleaning till I get everything the way I want it. Got the truck for 300 long story but needed 2 coils. Replaced them and rainier came about for 500. Was rolled but in great shape. Sold i6 for 300 so I have a total of 500 into this project. Still lots to do but could drive it now if I wanted. BTW ditched 4wd. Nothing was put back in, going to pan swap 1 day
If you are referring to the Three P-10 PCM Connectors I've highlighted in a Close Up of your original posted image... I have all of the dope on this P-10 PCM and the Pin-Out Diagrams and references listed in THIS Thread:
BIGGER EDIT: 04/24/2019 For THE BEST On Topic Solution ...Go Directly to Post # 42... BIG EDIT: This Thread originally was to cover creating a Test Harness to use exclusively for diagnosing and repairing the GM Trailblazer and Envoy, etc Instrument Panel Cluster and Components... but...
gmtnation.com
However... I have NO Cross - Fitted Diagrams available for re-wiring the P-10 PCM Trailblazer-Envoy Engine Harnesses over to handle an LS Motor meant for the TBSS Engine Harness.
Before you "Tumble Down THAT Rabbit Hole..." look into possibly getting a Mega-Squirt Engine & Transmission Controller and also consult with both @limequat and PCMofNC for possible canned solutions they may have already worked out. But ...Prepare yourself for some MAJOR Wallet Surgery.
I have computer from rainier in and swapped fuse box from under hood as well. Been slowly moving pins from c1 i6 harness to p59 computer. Was hoping to find out why fuel gauge not working. Got all other gauges working, well not sure about speed because haven't driven yet. Pinout Showed level sensor at pin 22 on c1 purple wire for chassis harness on tb so I moved that to pin 54 on green plug on p59 computer. No luck. Hoping to get back at it this week sometime. Worst case is keep it full lol
@TJBaker57 can probably confirm that the fuel gauge is driven over the GMLAN by the PCM so if the other gauges work, this one should too. Maybe the stepper motor is dead. If you have an ELM327 adapter and the Torque app, see if you can get the fuel level from there. I think the speedo is driven directly from the PCM, which is why the PCM has to be calibrated with the correct gear ratio.
I use hp tuners for scanner but have elms327 as well. Shows voltage back there just not on dash. Maybe it is on empty lol. Swore I filled it up before I parked it. Dash shows e with low fuel light on. Built a few motors in my day but this one feels different, throttle response is amazing and sounds so healthy. Def excited to shred the worn out tires on back.
PID for fuel level should be 1155. I believe Torque Pro will not have this, you would need to create the PID yourself.
Message format from the PCM on the serial data bus is usually "A8 83 10 12 xx zz" where "xx" equals percentage represented in hexadecimal (00 to FF is nominally 0% to 100%) and "zz" is a checksum.
With an ELM327 and a serial terminal app sending the following will then display any messages sent to the Status ID of "fuel system" (byte 2) as defined in SAE J2178. The secondary ID of "12" (byte 4) is fuel level in percent.
The thing of it is... unless you get VERY Lucky... In my experience, the P-10 PCM interface tended toward 'picking and choosing' different Pin-Outs relating to a particular function from a minimum of Two of the Three Harness Connectors.
So beware that issue and ensure that you read through all three of those connector wiring Pin-Out Diagrams. You might just find the connectors to the PCM for the Fuel Gauge are likewise 'distributed' in this odd manner.
By the way... if the TBSS SUV LS Engines demanded a different type of Fuel Lines to gain proper acces to the New V8 Motor... Now would be a good time to replace those Rusty, Gnarly Looking ones while they are so easily accessible... sans engine.
Well I guess I was mistaken about fuel level in truck... put 5 gallons from the mower can in and showed almost quarter tank. Sorry for the confusion. Got the crossmember in so I can fab bracket off it. Should b super simple. I'll post pics after. Done swapping wires around so I'll b cleaning that up as well.. and about fuel lines I just bent what was there to reach fuel rail because I couldn't wait to hear it run lol. I'll b running new lines from tank to filter to intake. Michigan takes a toll on lines. Every single brake line has or will b done as well
Well I went for my first real ride today, two 30 minute hauls. I'm very impressed with the power and drivability. No issues besides running very lean, got started tuning on it. Need better brakes now lol. Still need to run new fuel line and figure out why the truck locking its doors by itself. Best money I've ever spent and feels good to know every inch of my truck. Thx for all the help, couldn't have done it without sites like this
And btw it's an 05.... don't know why I was set on it being 04. Seen no fuel filter, went in and checked title lol. I said we'll guess the 05 pinout works on 04
