My 2002 Envoy (199890 miles) was beginning to use oil the last year or two. About one quart every 2500 miles. I ran the BG EPR for about 20 minutes at 1500 RPM as per their instructions before the last oil change. Changed oil and filter as usual.

So far, as of today I have 1000 miles on the oil change and it hasn't moved from the exact "full" mark that I filled it to during that last oil change. I know it's too early to tell for sure but it seems to be helping.

The only other change I made was to go back to the 5/30 W Valvoline Synthetic Blend that I used for many years before switching to the Mobil One Extended 5/30 W. I know this throws a variable into the equation so nothing is perfect with my hypothesis.

Will keep you all posted as the miles increase.

yeah, those early years did tend to burn the midnight oil more than others. At least you didnt get the porous cast block where the oil would seep out the backside of it. At least I hope you didnt. I think that was in 02-03 models only, but only on some.

Mine is an 04 and only has a hair over 160k, and hasnt burnt oil.
Call me bougie, but I like my royal purple. Great at keeping seals maintained and hydrated, and honestly I feel like I eek out just a smidge better on smoothness and mpg

1600 miles since the BG cleanse, and fresh oil change. The oil level is same. Does not appear to have burned any oil. It would have been down half a quart by now before the BG treatment.

At this point, I'm calling it a win so far. Will keep everyone updated as the miles increase.

That's a good improvement! I was going through a quart every 500-1000 miles with my 5.3, I haven't done a treatment since 2021 but it helped cut it down to a half quart every 1000 miles. For the cost, its worked much better then the other snake oils that claimed to cut consumption down.
