I'd try it in D and see how it acts. Probably will still need to downshift to 3rd going up grades or you notice it hunting between 3rd and 4th. Headwinds can also affect towing. -

I guess it would depend on the terrain and gearing. If you have the GU6 gearing, I would tow in 3rd. If you are noticing the transmission shifting more than it would normally, put it in 3rd.

In short, IMO, Not No But Hell NO! Mainly because of the AFM. How is the frame? Rusted? Suspensions are expensive and you will have a problematic air compressor for the rear suspension...
