Like Mounce said, check the oil level. Are you aware that the I6 is a 7 quart system, not the usual 5 or 6 qts. Did you do the last oil change, or someone else? Maybe the level is low?

At my buddy's shop, they rarely use a diff gasket. He told me to just RTV it, but don't use the "Ultra" type, as it takes too long to set, and frequently leaks. I bought the gasket from the dealer anyway, and it was a match for the one that was on the truck. It's the thick silicone-type one...

Yesterday we finished the fluid change on my son's Envoy. Now he's all set with fresh front and rear differential fluids, transfer case fluid, transmission filter and fluid, engine oil and filter. The only thing left would be a coolant change and brake fluid, but that's planned for later this...

For my son's '07 Envoy, we new Biltstein HD shocks in the rear, installed Air Lift air bags in the rear springs, and replaced the rear differential fluid. In the near future, hopefully in a day or two - Front Diff fluid, Trans Filter and Fluid, Transfer Case fluid, and possibly a radiator...

Here, in Upstate NY, it's kind of dreary weather today, so I'm collecting parts and fluids for a complete fluid service on my son's Envoy (Front/Rear diffs, Trans fluid/filter, Transfer case fluid, Engine Oil/filter, etc.) Also, will be adding rear air bags (Air Lift) for help with his towing...

Just wondering... For those that have undone the trans line to pump fluid out, could you undo the other line to suck in the new fluid and do a complete fluid change in one step?

I've heard of some horror stories from having a reverse flush done on an "older" transmission. It may be OK on a newer one, but when it's old, and especially if you don't know it's maintenance history, I would just drop the pan, change out the filter, and add fluid.

Thanks for the quick reply! I've been accustomed to being careful with aluminum heads for many years, as all of my motorcycles had them. Totally understand the "little goes a long way" comment. Will be picking up some of that Permatex lube you pictured. Thanks again! :2thumbsup:

Good tips. Thanks! :2thumbsup: What's your opinion on using never seize on the spark plug threads? Some folks have told me they always use it, and others tell me it's not needed, and could cause issues.... :confused:
