A low refrigerant charge can cause a side-to-side variation in discharge temperature. Refrigerant enters the evaporator, but if a low charge, will evaporate without cooling the entire surface of the evaporator. Not saying this is your problem but something to check.

The shallow pan is flat on the bottom, deep has a stepped bottom. I've not seen anyone report having a shallow bottom pan. If you do a web search for images showing "4l60e shallow vs deep pan" some examples will show you the step in the bottom for reference.

I hope this info is of interest to those responding to the original question..... early in '09 my water pump was replaced under an extended warranty. I dug out the repair order. No bolts were listed so I'm guessing the old one were reused. Appreciate any feedback if you find a valid p/n.
