NEED HELP Oil Pressure guage drops to zero (sometimes) during idle

Thanks, I could rig up a true gauge. I was reluctant to do so because the drop to zero is so intermittent, and I'm guessing it would only happen in traffic when the engine is completely hot. I could conceivably run an HDPE tube through the firewall to a gauge strapped under the dash.

NEED HELP Oil Pressure guage drops to zero (sometimes) during idle

2006 TB EXT 4.2L L6 288,000 mi A few times, the indicated oil pressure on the dash gauge drops to zero when idling. No check engine light or any other warning is displayed. First occurrence appeared after I changed the alternator but don't see any connections I might have damaged or left...

NEED HELP Replace Control Arms or Just Bushings?

I did that job on my 06. If you have the cash you will safe a considerable amount of time if you but the upper arm and the lower bracket with the bushings already installed. I was being cheap and just bought the bushings. installing the new bushings in the upper control arm went "ok', but...

Cleaned Throttle Body, P0014 pops up

I was able to disconnect the tube and attach a length of pvc onto it. Then I poured sea foam into the tube verifying that it was actually clogged. Eventually I had to clear the clog with air. It only took about 15 psi to clear it. 'Im not sure if the sea foam loosened it up or not. In any...

    P0014

check that the pcv orifice isnt plugged. If your throttle body is always gunked up, or if their is gunk in the air plenum all the time, that might be an indication that the orifice is plugged.

Cleaned Throttle Body, P0014 pops up

On my '06 I had that code persistently until I unclogged the crankcase ventilation orifice. Do you have gunk up in the air plenum? Do you need to clean your throttle body all the time?

'06 Trailblazer EXT Headlight Relay Recall

But my question is, how do I get GM to honor this recall? I have received no recall notice for my vehicle. Yet my vehicle specifically is listed in the recall, and I definitely have the faulty module. I call GM and they deny the recall pertains to my vehicle based on the VIN No. I called...

'06 Trailblazer EXT Headlight Relay Recall

Why is it that the NHTSA issues a recall for the headlamp relay, including my year and model (GM Recall No. 14291), yet when I enter the VIN number at NHTSA website, it says there is no such recall? (I indeed have a 2006 trailblazer EXT). The headlights have been cutting out intermittently for...

'06 4.2L-Filthy oil inside air plenum.

I might still need to replace the CPAS. Also, I am going to start confirming proper crankcase circulation on a regular basis. I am thinking of adding a T with two valves between the orifice and the intake manifold so this can be checked regularly. I think the clogged orifice led to several oil...

'06 4.2L-Filthy oil inside air plenum.

OK, Finally cleared the PCV orifice, it took about 15 psi air pressure, and I chased through a couple tablespoons of seafoam too. Also, a little bit of throttle body cleaner remained from an earlier attempt, so I guess I need to change the oil quite soon. I am curious, if you change the oil...

'06 4.2L-Filthy oil inside air plenum.

Thanks. Right now, I cannot get anything to flow backwards thru the orifice. it seems pretty tightly clogged. Im thinking of using pressure but I dont want to damage anything. you think 30 or 40 PSI pushing backwards thru the orifice would be dangerous?

I get P0014 engine code. Other than that and the surging idle during cold start, it runs pretty good. My wife gets 20 mpg back and forth to work.
