NEED HELP Traction Control Repair Light

Ultimately I believe this is the result of an electrical connection where oxidation and/or looseness is the primary cause. But, that didn't help one bit. I once found a surging speedometer due to an oil leak compromising a wheel sensor. WTF was that? What to do? As a practice, whenever I'm...

SOLVED! Alternator voltage spiking after 3 replacements

I wash my engine too. But it's critical that you blow the compartment immediately with either a leaf blower or compressed air. I found a leaf blower actually clears the entire area of water better. One time I did not do the air thing and my cooling fans (or something nearby) started to smell...

    Low Oil Pressure reading?

I suspect a thicker oil may help that.

    Low Oil Pressure reading?

Is this a mature vehicle? A weak/failing oil pump may be almost useless at idle. I'm curious to know if revving the engine clears the warnings - like when accelerating. In any case, an actual oil pressure measurement is definitely in order - in my opinion.

    A 2006 Chevrolet Impala 3.9l (9c3): BCM (body control module) ECU 241 (not like J1850 6 digit addresses) Low Beam (AE124040000000) header:241 - off (AE124000000000) header:241 - on Fog Lamp (AE121010000000) header:241 - off (AE121000000000) header:241 - on...

    Codes and symptoms sans thoughts

Usually codes that mention an actual circuit high/low tend to lead to physical connection problems - wires broken, shorted together, shorted to ground and/or shorted to power. I would verify that all the wires on that o2 sensor make it all the way to the ECU, or wherever they lead to without...

    Low beams not working

That's interesting. I was going through some of the settings in a Tech2 for my car and saw there were separate LED vs Incandescent PWM (pulse width modulation) settings. All that tells me is that there are settings and programming behind what seems to be simple things like lights. Incandescing...

    NEED HELP Reverse Engineering

Just in case anybody reads this...I ended up getting a Tech2 clone and did the relearn. I used a Rasberry pi and a CAN module to sniff out the comm. Found some cool stuff along the way.... Here's some actual bi-directional coding info on that 2006 impala: Body Controller ECU is 241 Engine...

    NEED HELP Reverse Engineering

Ok great. Thanks. Some additional info...I'm working with 15765-4 protocol. I guess that's the next step from J1850. Of course everything is different. headers are 4(29 bit) or 1.5 bytes (11 bit)....for example, headers are like (7E0 - engine, 7E2- trans, etc)...so, to talk to the engine ecu...

    NEED HELP Reverse Engineering

So, I've written some software to talk to those cheapo OBD2 wireless dongle things. Actually, two android apps. One is a CAN terminal thing, the other more of a standard obd2 scanner thing. I'm not here to push my apps so much as to find information. Of course, you are welcome to them if you...

I wrote an app that can send data into the CAN...You can also set headers...CAN App Go to the bottom of the page where you can grab an *.apk file for android...or whatever..

    2003 escalade random drain.

I had exactly the same problem on a 2006 Impala - for years. Perfectly fine, but occasionally the battery would be dead. Months, weeks apart. Then somehow I noticed it happened after moving things around in my trunk....(cut to the chase) so, it was a wire that was cut clean and tucked away...
