NEED HELP 08 Suburban, Deleting VLOM, Adding Cam, Tuning Questions

Thanks. I will do a write-up as soon as the ticking problem is fixed.

Valvetrain Noise After DOD Disable/Cam Swap, Bad Lifter From Factory?

Yeah, kinda figured that on the gaskets and bolts. Was kind of annoyed when I took the valley cover off and realized there was no access to the lifters, used to the old school gen1 and L31 blocks. A lifter swap in those is cake. Oh well, I guess I will be doing a swap. The lifters were 16...

NEED HELP 08 Suburban, Deleting VLOM, Adding Cam, Tuning Questions

Updated Thread: https://gmtnation.com/forums/threads/valvetrain-noise-after-dod-disable-cam-swap-bad-lifter-from-factory.21081/ I actually ended up sacrificing the lopping idle I wanted with that cam and went with a Stage 2 Truck Low Lift cam that a TSP rep recommended since my vehicle was so...

Valvetrain Noise After DOD Disable/Cam Swap, Bad Lifter From Factory?

Oil pump is old. I did notice the oil pressure is a little low. 30 in idle and about 60 WOT. Cruising is around 45-50. A friend that used to work on engines with me had me try and use 10W30, but the pressure is the same. Not much improvement. As far as the used parts, everything is the...

Valvetrain Noise After DOD Disable/Cam Swap, Bad Lifter From Factory?

I have a 08 Suburban with a 5.3 that was having problems with the DOD. It has 160K miles on it. On a trip to the beach the pressure kept dropping to 20 and the engine would run rough and start tapping. After a while I noticed the pressure only dropped when it went into V-4 mode. Later on...

NEED HELP 08 Suburban, Deleting VLOM, Adding Cam, Tuning Questions

My DOD is acting up on my vehicle so I decided to just delete it and throw in a cam and a 3200 stall converter. I know in order to install the cam I have to get new lifters and a new valley cover plate to replace the VLOM manifold. I am going with a Texas Speed 228R cam with the 112 LSA and a...

    Oil Pressure Gage

It would be easier to install a separate one, but that takes the cool factor away. I tend to go above and beyond. Maybe just the Army Aviation in me. Besides, programming the Arduino will be cake compared to the custom remote start project. Here is a link to that one...

    Oil Pressure Gage

Here is more information on the sending units. Stock Trailblazer: ACDELCO D1843A L31 Sensor: WVE/AIRTEX/WELLS 1S6635 Summit Racing says the tread pattern for the L31 sending unit is 1/4-18 NPT, so it might not fit like I originally thought. I will have to find out in the morning.

    Oil Pressure Gage

It looks like the gauges use stepper motors, which the ones in my Tahoe seem to use regular ones because they return to zero when manually turned. So it looks like it cannot directly wire the new sender to the gauge because it will not work like the Tahoe. I will have to interface it with an...

    Oil Pressure Gage

Looked at the schematic and it is controlled by the bus. What I am thinking is getting a second cluster and isolating the guage from the rest of the cluster electrically. Then I could just hook up the sending unit from my Tahoe to the guage like it is wired in the Tahoe. If it works, great...

    Oil Pressure Gage

I'll try to figure it out on my own. The hard part is going to interface it with the guage. I think it gets a dedicated 5v signal, but I will have to confirm with a multimeter. I hope it's not part of the data bus.

    Oil Pressure Gage

So, before everyone starts adding aftermarket sending units and guages, I have a possible solution that uses factory parts, and the factory guage, hopefully. My other vehicle is a GMT420 Tahoe with the Vortex 5.7 sbc. It has a sending unit that is similar, but longer. The connector has 3 pins...

    NEED HELP😩

Was it hot outside? My truck runs rough when it is hot out and sometimes dies when I pull from a stop. I have the same P0300 code, but my throttle body is also jacked and giving a code for that too. I think it has to do with the ignition coil design and the stupid springs in them. I've heard...
