Lift or lower and balljoint to tire relationship question

Thank you Dan. My truck is in storage since I got the camaro on the road for summer driving :). The pic and your description were perfect. I get it now :). The top of the spindle is where the ball joint sits so that will always be the same distance relative to the the disc/studs that are mounted...

Lift or lower and balljoint to tire relationship question

So, am I understanding this correct. if I lower my truck (1-2 inches) the balljoint angle will change, but the space between the tire and the balljoint will remain the same? fitting 265/50 20's seems to be common place even though they are 30.5 inches tall. I know if I go much lower I need to...

    Lowered and running 20's?

7 inches, that's pretty decent. though I know as it is now a few times a year I'm pushing snow with my bumper. I'm sure it'll be fine though. I might just have to actually use 4WD from time to time now :). Blizzaks and 2WD or amazingly competent.. Yeah I have a 2002 and the front bar is pretty...

    Lowered and running 20's?

Sweet, thanks for posting back. I forgot, did you already have or did you do the rear swaybar? That made a huge difference for me in the body roll. I'm going to pull the trigger and get the kit with 20's and run 265/50 20's. I'll probably start with 1" spacer in the rear and drop the front to...

    Lowered and running 20's?

Sweet, thanks. Don't forget to report back on the ride once you get it all buttoned up :).

Hey Dan - so did you get it done? Hows the ride? You have any links or vids of doing the rear drop? Thinking I might tackle that myself and would like to see it done. Doesn't sound too bad.

Lets see the Lowered EXT/XL's - looking for inspiration....

how low are you going? Only need the modded arms if going more than 1.3 or so in the front. Are you doing the full 2 / 3 drop. or more?

    18's to 20's, what's out there?

well in this case I know the backspacing is enough since the wheel is made for the TB. Given that I have an 8.5 wide wheel now and will be going to a 8 inch wheel, all other parts being equal my rim lip moves inboard 1/4 inch, right? (1/2 of the total width loss) However, since I will be...

    18's to 20's, what's out there?

So what if they don't list the backspacing? the 6" back space doesn't convert to what I'm seeing for offsets. 6" = 152 mm. I currently have an 8.5 inch wheel with +30 offset. (doesn't mention backspace) The replicas are 8 in wide with a +45 offset. (doesn't mention backspace) 15mm = .6...

    Lowered and running 20's?

Okay, that's good to know. Would look Cali style driving with the rear lower 2 or 3 inches and nose riding high taking her to the shop to get the front done :). Sounds like it could save quite a bit of change doing the rear myself though. heck, might even save me some change if I Dremel the body...

    Lowering 4X4......

I wonder if you're shooting for 1.5 lower in the front if it makes sense to just do it the arms or if it's just a waste of time and money not being needed? I'm 4x4 and considering going right in that range. Did you get the modified arms?

    Lowered and running 20's?

Yup,height, but that size is 1.20 inches wider. looks like the 245/50 20 is an exact match to hat I have. I wouldn't mind a little wider, except it might kill another MPG and I wonder if they'd rub? My AR Marins stick out a little more then stock (I think +30 offset) and Tony said the TBSS...

    18's to 20's, what's out there?

yup, need to speak with Tony, again. His price is higher because of the shipping to AK for me. Maybe I can send to seattle and have them barged up. Or, Ebay has them for $135 shipped - not sure they'll honor that once they see the Zip :).
